CILPA’s universal jurisdiction project completed an important first stage in Prague through a conference on universal jurisdiction as a tool for accelerating justice. The event was held in partnership with the International Bar Association and the CEELI Institute and brought together legal experts, practitioners and institutional actors to examine the promise and limits of universal jurisdiction in addressing impunity for serious international crimes. Following the conference, CILPA published a statement reflecting the proceedings and key issues arising from the discussion. This work forms part of CILPA’s broader contribution to international criminal justice, accountability and the strengthening of the rule of law in international affairs.
